Seven years of Byzantine Iconography study in Greece and Jerusalem. Over a 15-year career, Ilya Medvedev has produced 1,000+ artworks including large-scale oil paintings. Professional experience includes restoration.
Specialized Experience & Methodology
A specialist in free-hand precision, Ilya Medvedev practiced for five years as a tattoo artist and street portraitist, working without stencils or preliminary sketches. This mastery of detail led to the development of hyper-realistic painting techniques for medical surgical training, designed to enhance the visual acuity of surgeons. Since 2012, this pedagogy has mentored diverse professionals, from game designers to doctors. The methodology emphasizes a freehand 'eye-brain-hand' connection across disciplines such as Byzantine Iconography, Academic Drawing, and Contemporary Painting, focusing on technical mastery and creative independence.
